z_boi Posted November 4, 2004 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2004 I've been wondering weather ou trannies have brass syncros or not. cuzz if we do, i have the rong fluid in there. Im using gl-5 stuff. I have a tranny out of an 80 280zx. one of the early 5spds. do all the l series tranny have brass syncros? or no? and wat types of gear oil are u guys using? Your 1980 transmission (B box) differs from the A box 5 speed used in non-US market Z cars and all SRL roadsters. The A box used steel "Porsche style" servos (syncros) for all gears up to 1970.
