lvmy240z,

Here's the thread I was referring to:

Zama thread

It was probably just an oversight that you did not reply to the people that offered help and advice to you, but all the same its nice and neat to tie up the loose ends if possible..... :classic:

Lachlan,

As far as I understand it, the finer mesh of the 432R grille was something to do with acting as a better 'filter' to stop foreign objects ( such as complete Toyota S800s and Honda Cub scooters :P ) from entering the engine bay.

The 432R came without any form of filtration for the carbs ( open trumpets) whereas the stock 432 had a very eifficient and elaborate airbox / filter / cold-air intake system. However, I'm not sure that the finer mesh would actually help all that much - so it might have been a homologation assisting measure or 'styling' matter.

Surely they could only have saved pennies with the different grille designs?

Cheers,

Alan T.

Alan don't you mean Honda S800's??? I've never heard of a Toyota S800 before but I could have missed the joke all together  .

In the TV Ad he has a goggomobile, but it's not the Dart. I believe the Dart was an autralian modified version of the goggomobile. which i think were just a sleeker replacement fibreglass body for the original goggomobile FG body.

The one at the Freo museum is "The Dart" . Not the one from the TV Ad.
