IGNORED

To our British and French members

This is an apology from me for not something I said or did but for for something I let slip by awhile ago from one of our members.

It has been bothering me since that time.

Often we differ much with each others governments ( ok all the time).

But we do not have much of a problem at all with the people themselves.

Even though I lived in England for 3 years, that is not my reason to comment.

I have never been to France, but it is included as you will see.

I'm no big student of history, so this is based mostly on my opinion alone.

That said, I do not remember the thread but a member made a rude comment to you about WWII. I have seen this before elsewhere.

He said something like .... and if it was not for the USA you would be speaking

german right now.

As you usually do, you graciously back off and say you are right, we really do appreiciate that very much etc. etc.

Even though it may be true when you hear that from someone in the USA,

It is rude to jab you with that. We forget we probably more so joined the war

so that WE would not be speaking german. In other words keeping any conflict off our own soil. It was an unpopular decision for most here as we had other problems at the time. I do not know honestly what side I would have taken at the time.

So when a person pokes you with that little reminder, they already know that you already know and appreciate it. Because of that it becomes an uncalled for rude personal attack if you have not first done the same. In short, you have a right to defend yourself if presented with that comment. In my opinion.

Or I will do it for you.

I don't have anything negative about the people of France. They have given their share of important gifts to the world, like Wine & Champagne, food, art & culture. A friend mentioned beautiful women, but you see those everywhere, even OHIO ;-)

The World as we know it would not be the place it is without the contributions of everyone, everywhere.

It was a pretty sad spectacle(can you say "Freedom Fries?") a year or two ago when hating europe (mainly France) was the "in" thing for "patriotic" Americans. Over what? An opinion. They are a different country with different interests that they will try to look out for, but I guess the self-righteous will always need everyone to agree completely with their opinion.

german right now.

FOR THE RECORD ONLY (I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE FOLLOWING AND I AM NOT INCITING ANY INDIGNANT RESPONSES)

usually any American uttering such a phrase in the UK is met with the equally untrue and inflammatory reply, ‘The US joined the war after the real fighting finished.’ or

‘The US sent men and hardware but left their balls at home’

FWIW Hitler abandoned plans to invade the UK almost 1 year before the US joined the war (after the Battle of Britain in 1940). The above statement might be true in France though ( sorry France!!!!)

please take this post with good humour in the way it is intended :) :)

Personally I would giving more credit to the Russians and their force to end the war, you know the bad guys in every U.S movie from the 1980's :)

But they were only looking out for their homelands best interests as was everyone else and as clearly everyone continues to do.

When irony meet history... :stupid: LOL

The minister of Education asked this month for an enforcement of the teaching of German in French schools. We have today a “German” sphere building in Europe.. made with all the new country of the old “Eastern bloc”, most of them using German for trading.

So if tomorrow one will maybe need to speak Spanish to go to the USA… One will also need to speak German to deal with northern Europe ?????

All this without a single death… Money is 1000 times more powerful than guns ! It’s only when you get both mixed up that the #@%**§¤¤ start.

I'm not sure when the thread was started, however I believe the quote was mine. Was it rude? Yes!

Was it against the French people? No!

It was an agreement with the originator of that thread and an observation they made. Which I took as a comment about the French government's lack of aid during the Iraq situation. And as it turns out their motive was ----MONEY.

Some say money is our motive. I just remember the Twin Towers.

It was also in response to the person that said we, the US, OWED the French for their help during the Civil war.??????

So is an apology due? Hell no!!! Not by me. I have no problem defending this country against someone that makes a comment I don't agree with. Much the same way anyone of you would defend a member of your family. I may not agree with everything here, but I'll not stand by and let a non-US person hammer us.

Does that make me "patriotic"? Bet your arse it does. Self-righteous? No! I could care less if my opinion is one that everyone agrees with. But it's mine and I'll express it.

So Steve don't make apologies for anyone but yourself.

The one you are blaming are doing the job together with you in Afghanistan for that matter! And the last election was a nice symbol for democracy, but not a lot more than that :ermm:

As for IRAK, I haven't seen any evidence yet of Ussama and Sadam friendship???

Have you any new real info on this? I haven’t seen any mass destruction weapons either? :squareeye

What kind of credibility does it give to our free world now ???? :(

I don’t have more wisdom than you or anyone else, maybe broader info channels… US, European, North-African (Arabic!)… :paranoid:

You have a strong point of view, fine with me. I am just wondering if you are aware of the state of hate that’s building against our world? :dead:
