Posted November 8, 200420 yr comment_101093 Ok I watched the full throttle show on them red the pair of 71's , but did anyone see that the cars were both automatics? Kinda disappointed they would use autos , also I don't agree with the holley carb usage. But atleast our Z's got more airtime which they so richly deserve, also the show has some neat old video and pics , Jeff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13931-history-channel-show-on-zs/ Share on other sites

November 8, 200420 yr comment_101095 The History Channel also has a video on the 240Z for sale, anybody seen it-not this show from what I understand-they also sell the Full Throttle episode as well:"Automobiles: Nissan Z DVD 1 Volume Set 50 MinutesPRODUCT DETAIL:In the late 1960s, Americans regarded the Japanese auto industry as something of a joke - the manufacturer of tiny, strange looking vehicles that had limited appeal to any but the most frugal consumer. That all changed with the introduction of the 240 Z in 1970. Radical, sleek, fast and sexy, the Z proved the Japanese industry could build something other than an economy car. A true sports car, the Z kept all the good traits that the Japanese cars of the day were known for and added speed and style. It was a winning combination, and it paved the way for the boom in Japanese car sales to come. From the daring decision to target the American market to the brilliant design and the long series of Zs that followed, this is the ultimate look at one of the most significant autos of all time. November 8, 200420 yr comment_101099 Hello all, the BRE Z filmed in this episode was my car filmed at Nissan about 3 months ago. With all the time they spent with John Morton and Trevor Harris, well I am surprized that they didnt use as much footage as I thought they could have. Les, helped me bring my car up to nissan, and they slapped him in the chair and interviewed him, not a planned event, but they used quite a bit of his footage. I would agree that the Turbo Twins didn't really know what to do, but they were given the parts to make this work, MSA gave them most of the stuff used on these cars. They were looking for tripples, but it seems that no one gives that stuff away Ron Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13931-history-channel-show-on-zs/#findComment-101099 Share on other sites

November 8, 200420 yr comment_101125 Did you notice that when they repainted the cars, they removed the '240Z' pillar emblems from the Orange car and put the later pillar emblems on the yellow car? They didn't seem to have the mechanical knowlege unique to the Nissan L engine as evedinced by the difficulty they had with the valve springs. I wonder if they dropped the timing chain? My expectations for this show weren't high to begin with but I guess I'll keep it in my Datsun video collection. Unlike the one the had the MSA show. November 8, 200420 yr comment_101130 I would have liked the show to drop the performance upgrade and just show the history of the car. Would like to see more of Ron's car. November 8, 200420 yr comment_101133 maybe that is what the other video they sell does-except maybe the Rons' car bit. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13931-history-channel-show-on-zs/#findComment-101133 Share on other sites
November 8, 200420 yr comment_101137 I was kind of dissapointed in the show. I had hoped that they would know more about what they were doing. Throwing in a new cam and headers, and then sticking those 4-bbl carbs on, and that's just about it. I was doing something else during the show too, so I missed some details (I did tape it), but overall, other than the retrospective clips (which were pretty cool), I don't think they did a great job on the cars. Limiting themselves to 14 hours of work, and parts that people would give them certainly restricted what they could do... November 8, 200420 yr comment_101139 I am going to piece together the interviews and history and dispose of the twinkie twins, and their evil plot to wanke-up classic zcars. I wonder if ther would sell the raw unedited interviews and history-certianly more along the line of what I would want. I'll have to contact the production company. Will Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/13931-history-channel-show-on-zs/#findComment-101139 Share on other sites
