Needy 240Z-G man!

So I'm lovin' the 240Z-G look and I'm willing to spend the money on all the Z-G parts to convert my 240Z. One problem though, I don't know any good sources for these parts. If I'm goin' Z-G, I want it all: ZG fender mirrors, ZG flares, ZG wing, and of course ZG front conversion.

But if my ZG plan blows out and I decide to stick with the Original look, what do you guys think about bondo'ing some Motorsport Auto flares? I mean I like the bolted flare look but I also like the other way.

I too had the gnose hots and after I crashed my last 240 I built a gnose one. The MSA nose is now better in fit and finish than it was 2 yrs ago. The installation is doable in several hours (8+) but you will need to fab a way to connect it to the car. It uses the stock lights (head and signal) but you need special hinges. I had them made and now sell them on my website. I bought the flares but decided not to use them. I had my rear fenders flared by rolling them and adding some bondo. Pics on my car on the website and at www.zccne.org (go to members' section). Email and I can provide more info if you'd like. There's a video with sound on my website of the car at the track last year.

I believe that you can find the fender mounted mirrors new from NISMO, but I am not positive on that one. As far as finding the other goods, good luck. To get the right nose, over-fenders, and metal ringed headlight covers you would have to get them from Japan. I am sure it would be a lot of work, but it would be WELL worth it in my opinion. I wish I could help you with that. However, if you are really interested in getting these parts and you have the means, then I am sure that if you talk to the right people on this forum, they could help. MSA does have all of the parts for this, but it does not do justice compared to a well made 5-piece replica, over-fenders, or spoiler.

The ZG look is an original look. Molded flares are not. If you have the bolt on over-fender's, even on a short nose Z, they will look great. There are a few members that have these on their cars. I have seen EricB's car in person and it looks spectacular with deep Watanabe's under the bolt on over-fenders. Please don't bondo them! I hope this helped.

Ben

p.s. gnosez, that is a very nice 240 you have.

Thanks a bunch for the advice, guys. I really appreciate it. I know the G-Nose project is going to be expensive, but I AM willing to spend what it takes to build a good replica. It's my dream ROFL

But if my ZG plan melts, then I have no problem in getting MSA flares. Personally, I don't feel like making bondo flares cause I DO like the bolt-on look.

Well since you guys made me feel positive about the GNose project, I'm gonna look into it some more. Thanks again!

Eugene, I really think you will be glad after your hard work and money well spent after you have a nice g-nose and flares. Post a wanted thread on this site and specify what you are looking for. The only nice g-nose Z I have seen in person was Mr. K's car. The G-nose is stunning when done right. My dream is to own a 240ZG.

Ben i agree I am thinking more and more these days about saving some money and importing a "real" zg from Japan. It would certainly save alot of hassles and I much prefer the authentic Gnose to any copies I've seen.

Soon soon I won't be a broke Uni student soon soon i can afford these items :)

Hey Gav....any idea what sort of $$$ we'd be talking for a real ZG? I'm in the same position in that I'll have finished my degree soon and will have some money coming in....and I really want to build a ZG! But yeah, seems finding parts that are accurate isn't so easy. I'm too much of a perfectionist to have something that isn't quite right.

i've estimated between 30-50k AUD depending on how original and how nice it is condition wise.

The other reason i want to do it is because I've realised I don't know of 1 person in Australia with an authentic ZG, 432 or 432r(yeah right). Heck i only know of 2 C10's and they are both GT's.

Maybe we can get em cheap on a group buy. :P

For what I want to do, a genuine ZG with no engine or box would be perfect....might be able to get such an example a good bit cheaper. Who knows....all a pipe dream for now. :-/

P.S. I'll have a KGC10 too while I'm at it. :)

I have heard that 20-25k USD will get a beautiful ZG, but I am not certain on this. I will be a broke uni student for a while, and then when I get out I will be broke due to school debt.

I hope to have my 260 the way I would like it until I buy another Z.

Eugene, start looking for the goods and you will have an extremely unique and beautiful 240Z. Z's modified with Japanese style are rare to come by in the states. I would assume that is true in all countries other than Japan. Keep us updated with the ZG pieces with your Z.

Ben:)
