Where do you buy your Z parts?

It says it reduces cavitations. What is a cavitation? Do you no longer need a fan with this application or is meant to be used with an electric fan?

Cavitation is normally associated with a phenomenon produced by a boat/ship propeller turning too fast but the situation with a water pump impeller would be the same. Because of low pressure on the trailing side the water can actually boil (even at low temperatures such as ocean water) thus creating bubbles. I would guess that boiling would be more likely in a car cooling system which is already close to boiling as it is. Not only does this reduce efficiency it can actually damage the impeller/propeller.

Courtesy Nissan used to give a 25% discount for Z Club and Internet Users. Not sure anymore. I stopped using them when their service declined and they would not always give a discount.

I went to Midwest Z for everything until Chloe "vanished". The last couple of small items that I got came from my local dealer. They give a 25% discount for Z Club members, and I don't have to pay for shipping. The only issue with them is that on special order parts, like Z specific bolts, etc. you sometimes have to buy a pack of 10, or however many Nissan packages them. Courtesy will genereally sell you just what you need.

thus creating bubbles.....SNIP.... it can actually damage the impeller/propeller.

And those bubbles, commonly called vapor bubbles implode against whatever surface the coolant is touching. They implode with a high velocity jet of coolant which removes material from the surface with a pressure that can excede 15,000 psi. The phenomenon is referred to as pitting in the industry.

Cavitation/pitting can destroy a water pump in as little as 30,000 miles.

FWIW,

Chris

I bought a rear hatch patch panel from Courtesy Nissan a few weeks back. It was the least expensive one I have seen and I looked for a long time. At least $37 less the ones being offered on eBay every couple of weeks. They gave a discount, can't remember if it was 25% or not. Fast, personal and "courteous" service, well packed and as described. Gary

I have some used parts from a 72 Z, if anyone is interested. I have a rebuilt engine, some suspension parts, differential, a fender, glass, other stuff. Sold as-is. I may use some of it, I don't know. Most likely will try to keep my car 71-ish. LOL Just ask me, I may have something you can use.

I use MSA, VB, E-Bay, and the local Z yard. Here lately, e-bay has been sucking for air flow meters. Seems like all they have are non turbo or '83 turbo ones. Just my luck, there will be an '81 turbo that I need, but I wont have the money for it. :tapemouth

Thats life...
