texasz Posted November 15, 2004 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2004 I just found this great site where you can buy one state-side all up to the US standards and legal...for a price of course. You can even order engines/parts from them!! http://www.motorex.net/skyline.html#
sblake01 Posted November 15, 2004 Share #2 Posted November 15, 2004 I don't care much for those Skylines-they're rice cars. I like the ones from the 60s and 70s as discussed in our Skyline forums here.
ChrisA Posted November 15, 2004 Share #3 Posted November 15, 2004 If I had the money, I'd have me a Skyline or two or three or.......Awesome cars. I read an article in one of the automobile mags a few years ago. The reporter got sent to Japan to check out the R34GTR Vspec2. He didnt get to drive it, only do a ride along. Supposedly (according to the article) he had to have the driver pull over so he could puke from the roller coaster like ride he was given. HAHAHA, what a wuss. I guess they call the car something along the lines of Godzilla. Because its a monster of a car. It really is a shame they were never brought to the states. Makes me wonder if the US automakers didnt want their precious Vettes, Vipers and the rest embarrased by a Japanese car with just a six cylinder in it. I have read of Skylines that make over 1000 horsepower after engine modifications. I also saw one with a six speed sequential gear box that ran the quarter mile in the high 9's. FWIW,Chris

The only thing I heard was that introduction of the Z in the US was the demise of the British sports car.
Alfadog Posted November 15, 2004 Share #6 Posted November 15, 2004 From what I've heard/read, the Z embarrassed EVERYTHING! Nice Skylines, I prefer the R32 over the R33, but at those prices, I would have to pass!!
Murph Posted November 15, 2004 Share #7 Posted November 15, 2004 Two of my mates have R32s, one a GTS-t one a GT-R. The GT-R has run a 11.6 @ 118mph on stock turbos, stock internals. Both of them are good solid reliable cars that cop a beating....and damn good fun.
240Zdragon72 Posted November 15, 2004 Share #8 Posted November 15, 2004 I like the R34 Nur V-Spec II. My altime favorite is the Skyline 2000. I like the oil cooler on the front of the car (not for street use, I supose ).

sblake01 Posted November 16, 2004 Share #10 Posted November 16, 2004 There was one at the Mossy show last Sunday. It was L20 powered which I guess makes it a replica. The guy had it imported here from Japan about two months ago. I didn't get any pictures but I'm pretty sure it will be on the 'Katy's Nest' site because she took several pictures of the show. I was lucky and had the military ship mine back. As long it is 25 years or older it's DOT exempt and 23 years or older it's EPA exempt. There was rumor of someone in California that was starting an Asian Sports Car Import business. They were going to specialize in old school Japanese vehicles. I would sell all my Z's to buy one, does anyone have a lead on this?Who is Katy's Nest, I would love to get in touch with the owner of the box and see how he got his? Do you have the website? Victor Laury Posted November 16, 2004 Share #12 Posted November 16, 2004 the Katy's Nest site is run by Kogi and Terry. I don't think it's a buisness, they are just nuts about cars and car shows. They own an orange 73 240, but Terry REALLY wants an RX3. Just another example of the really nice people you meet at car shows. The C10 2000GT was owned by Brian Dooley of San Diego. I don't think he's on this site.
