Posted April 18, 200222 yr comment_5791 Hi,Does anyone know if there's a difference between a NA and a Turbo Intake Manifold on the L28 engine? Which one is better suited for Turbo application (I assume turbo intake for turbo car but...). I think the NA manifold has an extra cold start injector. What does it do? BTW, know what "WOT" stands for?Oh and also, how much should I expect to pay for an intake manifold, NA or Turbo, in a good to decent shape?Thanks,-Guycali Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1403-l28-na-vs-turbo-intake-manifold/ Share on other sites
April 18, 200222 yr comment_5797 I can answer part of the question. WOT would be wide open throttle. The cold start injector acts as a choke on fuel injected cars. The water and air temp sensors tell the ECU when the engine is cold, and the cold start injector then adds extra fuel just as an electric choke would.I have no experience with the turbo manifolds or engines, but it would seem to me there would be quite a few differences.Prices would probably be determined by whether it's a bare manifold, or if it has the injectors and associated hardware on it. I'd say anywhere from 50 for a bare one up to a couple hundred depending on how much is offered with it. April 30, 200222 yr comment_6420 The N/A has longer intake runners and is better suited for a lower rpm range (torque)...it runs out of steam flow wise around 5500 rpm.....it also has the boss for a cold start injector, so if your using stock EFI on a 280 n/a its easier swap But..the Turbo manifold has shorter runners and does work better with a turbocharger thats being modified...if your running a rising rate FPR and stock boost there wont be much difference other that a tad more torque in mid range if you use a n/a manifold. If your planning on building the motor and turbo a bit, use the turbo manifold. Block off the EGR, remove the pop off valve etc.. the turbo manifold delivers better performance if your going to do it right. Kinda depends on what your wanting to do...either way you decide, been there done it, let me kow--I'll help ya get where ya want to be power wise Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1403-l28-na-vs-turbo-intake-manifold/#findComment-6420 Share on other sites
May 1, 200222 yr comment_6534 If you need a turbo manifold, my tenant*may* still have one from the 81ZXT he just dismantled- send him an email to disco_rod@hotmail.com or get back to me & i can check with him. May 16, 200222 yr comment_7284 Hey what's the diff between a Pop Off Valve and Blow Off Valve? If there's no difference am I to assume that blow off valve's or Pop off valve came stock on 280zxT's? I know that SAAB and Volvo I think have been using them for a long time. Thanks, Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1403-l28-na-vs-turbo-intake-manifold/#findComment-7284 Share on other sites
May 20, 200222 yr comment_7469 Pop off valve is mounted on the intake manifold after the throttle body. It's purpose is to avoid overboosting. A blow off valve is mounted between the throttle body and the turbo and is used to relieve pressure when the throttle plates are closed rapidly ( between shifts) so that the turbo will not loose velocity from boost not being able to go anywhere.Joe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/1403-l28-na-vs-turbo-intake-manifold/#findComment-7469 Share on other sites
