Well I think headlight covers look fantastic, an excellent sleek look. Although I don't think I could ever bring myself to drilling my Z. There would have to be a sacrifice. WAIT,apparently MSA sells headlight coversthat require no drilling at all. Has anybody had experience with thses? How do they look? I also added a poll for headlight covers or no headlight covers, I am curious what the census is.

I have the MSA covers on my 78. At first I used the double sided adhesive tabs that come with them to affix the mounting tabs. They eventually came loose and I ended up drilling holes for them. If I had it to do again I would have used 3M double sided mounting tape. I have used that for emblems and properly installed it never comes loose unless you purposely pull it off. It's the dark grey stuff that is available at NAPA. That stuff comes in such a huge roll that I still have plenty of it and I purchased it 5 years ago!

I learned from r/c racing that the servo tape used for radio control stuff is REALLY STRONG. It takes a day or so for the bond to get strong, and if you ever take it off, it leaves a black gummy mess, but for the strength, I don't mind.

Otherwise, I use GOOP for strong bonds.

In my opinion, the car was meant to have headlight covers. Drill the car and mount them so that they can be serviced and cleaned.

And keep an extra set incase you get a crack or chip. Oh yeah, do paint the brackets body color, it looks much better IMO.

but in that case if you are going to go through the trouble with all that super adhesive that gums it up anyways, why not just drill so then it is cleanable like 26th said. "Finish the design that Datsun started" -MSA Website
