Bambikiller240 Posted November 25, 2004 Share #25 Posted November 25, 2004 Oh yes, I thought the name sounded familiar, thanks Mike. Like I said, the higher these parts go for, the more our 240Zs and our hard-to-find spare parts go up in value! The future looks bright! Tell that to Burt Diamond. He's been trying to sell his car for about 6 months. The high bid gets LOWER with every auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4504443135&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Then there is this recent auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4505345559&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
26th-Z Posted November 26, 2004 Share #26 Posted November 26, 2004 Beck got dooped! Somebody didn't get the memo that Beck was buying these and tried to snipe them. Carl says he is going to make repros with them. I guess, as of yesterday, the price of the repros will be fairly steep! What can I say about Burt, huh? He's drowning in his own inflation! Poor guy. Do you mean the inspection lid clips? (I found the auction and picture, sadly I don't have those) I too feel for Burt, but the market is what it is. Bambikiller240 Posted November 26, 2004 Share #31 Posted November 26, 2004 On underside of the Inspection Lids. (The ones you open to deal with the battery or clutch cyl / washer bottle). On EARLY Z's these plastic catches secured the lid in the closed position. Later 240Z's had metal catches in place of these.

26th-Z Posted November 26, 2004 Share #35 Posted November 26, 2004 The very early cars have inspection lids with slotted brackets for these clips to fasten the lid to the fender. They break because they are made of plastic. Later models have a metal spring clip that screws to the inspection lid bracket. E-mail Carl and encourage him to make the repros. He has a pretty good plan going.Edit: Edit: Burp: I'll take a picture!
dkd021 Posted November 26, 2004 Share #36 Posted November 26, 2004 Just getting back to the hubcap portion of the post, I must say that I am surprised as well. I bought a NOS "D" hubcap on Ebay back on August or so for $42. I was skeptical about buying it but I put a max in there for $50, thinking I could keep it as a collectible. When I got it, it had a scrape around the lip of the "D" & I was disappointed to say the least.About a week later I decided that I shouldn't have bought it & put it back on Ebay to try & recoup some of my money. I started it a $9.99 & surprised to have turned $42 into $330 before expenses. I explained the scrape in the auction & took a half dozen pics before I got it to show up (it tended to blend in). This was the first of the NOS hubcaps that started showing up & the profit bought me $250 worth of new parts for my '72.Since I already have about 85% of the parts I need for my extremely thorough "refresher", let them go ahead & go up in price.
