Do I need a patrol clutch..?

Just wondering how I can tell the difference between a Patrol flywheel and a Z flywheel? ONly reason I ask is that me and Deus Ex both have an F54 block, when he went to get a clutch, he had to get a patrol one as the Z one didnt fit...we didnt take any measurements though so I cant remember what size it was. Anyone know a way I can tell without buying one to see if it fits ?

Many moons ago...

When I had my zx I replaced the clutch and it was gonna be one of two types (9.25 or 9 inch?) One was gonna be a load more expensive than the other, it ended up being the cheaper of the two. I *THINK* it was 9.25 inch.

BUT this was years and years ago so I might be talking crap. Good luck

I think the one you are referring as the Partol clutch might actually be the 2+2 or Turbo clutch. It is the larger of the two (240 mm vs 225mm) and IIRC attaches to the flywheel with 9 bolts instead of 6. Someone help me out here because I put that clutch in my car 5 years ago.

sBlake, you might be right. I just rang up a autobarn and they have two clutch listings for the Z..and one of those is the same part number as it is for the patrol. The extra flywheel bolts were news to me though...

Only thing to do is to take the fly wheel with me when I go and get a clutch :eek:

You don't have to take the flywheel, just use a sheet of light cardboard and make an impression on that of all the stud and dowel holes on the flywheel :)

And the diameter of the disc surface of the flywheel which would coincide with the clutch disc.

I should clarify for san_maru

My f54 block is not from a 280, its is actually from a Patrol, so patrol flywheel etc. and the difference was alot more than .25 it would have to have been at least 3 inches from memory.

Exactly...with plenty of patrol blocks out there who is to know what they have until they pull their gbox off...
