December 2, 200420 yr comment_104027 I dont think they were trying to drift, the oil barrens from the middle east will buy new cars and put oil all over the road to put on a little show. i guess its just their way of having fun, looks more dangerous than anything else. and as for that racing crash, OUCH! December 2, 200420 yr comment_104040 This is a shame, there are actually a bunch of guys in the middle east who do extreme drifting, that would make the japanese think twice. im taking gutter to gutter drift down a freeway. Either these are the outakes that didnt work out ( though i doubt it, the setup for tyres and suspention is all wrong) or they are guys trying to imitate them. If you saw the "professionals" do it, you would see they wouldnt make the stupid mistakes these guys do.Also, they still uses old toyotas and stock camrys, no performance cars per se. Ill see if i can find the link. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14199-when-drifting-goes-bad/?&page=2#findComment-104040 Share on other sites
December 2, 200420 yr comment_104041 Heh guys, that first clip was magnificent! I'm with 26thZ, it made me laugh my head off. Maybe its by twisted sense of humour. But seriously, I lived in Dubai for 2 years which is a city in the United Arab Emirates, it's perched between Saudi Arabia and Oman, but enjoys a great climate, the gulf beach and has 24hour legal...yes legal...bars and nightclubs, not what you normally associate with the Middle East. However, the one thing that most UAE people believe in is Allah. The meaning of "Insha Allah" is "by Gods will". So you see those guys standing and watching, cheating death as some mad idiot speeding at 100mph (didn't it look like it to) and smashign into them really doesn't make any difference to them. If they died then it was because it was Gods will that they died, it is out of their hands.Very interesting place to live and I have never seen massive speed humps on motorways before like the ones over there....huge...massive bloody things to slow down the rich brats in the Lambo's or Ferrari's....and they are every 5 miles or so.I was once at a set of lights and pulled out into the junction when the light turned green. I made it out past the first lane, noticed something out of my left eye, stood on the brake then all I remember is gathering my thoughts as I looked at smoke rising in front of me. Checked my body to make sure it was all there and then got out of the wreakage. A truck with two sea containers went straight through a red light and hit just in front of my drivers door hinge, totalled my car (Mercury Mystique...heh, a company car and not my choice), rolled his truck into the Dubai World Trade Centre carpark and then asked if he could use my mobile phone to call his boss. Guess what I told him. A squillion Police turn up and the big cheif said that Allah said that it was not time for me to meet him...too bloody right it wasn't. It went to court and the driver of the truck got a 200 Dirham or US$80 fine and that was it. Turned out that the company he drove for was owned by the brother of the judge.....go figure. So, watching that first .wmv was liek old times....classic! December 2, 200420 yr comment_104042 Ok not so funny but spectacularhttp://www.big-boys.com/articles/japancrash.htmlZNo he wasnt oh k. He sat in that carunconsios burning alive for about 5 minutes while his helmet melted to his face. The track didnt set the race support up right and now that driver(top jap driver cant remember his name) is horribly disfigured and cant drive. He sucsessfully sued that track for several million dollars.
