Skyline Engine for 280 Z

Was told of a friend of a friend that put a Skyline in his early 280 Z. He bought the engine in Japan from the Nissan dealers along with the 6 speed transmission & had it shipped directly to San Diego, CA. The engine mounts matched perfectly and he had to move the transmission mount. All mechanical was done by him but electrical was done by another guy for approx. $2,000.00. Was told the overall cost was about $4,000.00. Has anyone heard of or has known of anyone dropping a Skyline into a Z car and what was their results? Claims to have 750 hp. and will do 180- 185 mph. stacey - notice you are in my area! anyway, there are TONS of people that have done the RB - series swap.... if you haven't already, go to hybridz.org and you will find excellent examples.

You'll find that it's much more involved than dropping the motor in, moving a trans mount and hooking up the electrical. The cost figures don't seem right. If he spent $2K on the electrical that leaves $2K for the purchase of the engine, trans, and the rest of the parts? If that, along with the hp and performance figures, were true, there would really be "TONS" of us with RBs. In your research you will find it to be more costly and not quite as powerful as your friend states. Search this site for member Cuong Nguyen and you'll find info on his yellow RB powered 240Z.
