Posted December 8, 200420 yr comment_104573 I am rebuilding an F54 lower end and will use an E31 head. The timing chain sets have different part numbers for the 240 and 280 motors. I know this is a common installation so perhaps someone can tell me what they used for the timing set.ThanksBob M72 240z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14258-timing-set-for-240-head-and-280-block/ Share on other sites
December 9, 200420 yr comment_104580 I would think as long as either chain fits and there is no obvious slack that hasn't been taken up by the chain tensioner, then one is as good as the other. December 9, 200420 yr comment_104644 The timing chain from 70-83 is the same. It's the chain guide that differs from 70-75 and 75-83. If you are using a F54 block then use the kit for the 280.If someone has a guide from a 240 laying around and wouldn't mind posting a picture I'll post a picture of a 280 guide and maybe we could spot the difference.
