Moving TX to OR

Hi Folks,

Long time reader, occasional poster here. I have a Z move upon me and thought I'd ask for you opinions. I wish I could say this is a long, planned out organized move but ... The situation is moving the family complete with 3 - Z's and 2 other vehicles from NW Houston to Corvallis Oregon.

In Corvallis I'm hunting for a home to rent, Z storage, Z friends, and any info that may help.

In Houston, I have a few parts and tool issues perhaps even a car to part with (72 240). Anyone know where I can dispose of 25 gallons of Varsol from my parts cleaning tank? Or anyone interested a parts cleaning tank?

Time frame is out of Houston by 12/30. I'm here in Corvallis now house hunting!

Cheers,

Jim

Can you tell me about the parts cleaner please? Size, condition, pix would help but I know that you are not in the same location as it is right now.

Also, if you decide to sell the car please contact me with all the details!

Thanks all, for the warm welcome to Oregon.

The rain is no problem...coming from Houston!

For Texasz the parts cleaner is a full size 32 gallon steel cleaner. I bought it from a dealership, was originally serviced by Safety-Kleen. It's awesome but my current problem is it's full. I'm having trouble finding a place to dispose of the Varsol so I can transport it. I paid 300 for it and then added $80.00 worth of Varsol. I'd let it go for 150.00, come get it full!

No decision on the 72 yet...it will cost me than it's worth to move it but wife wants to keep it and I want the perfect dash out of it...I drove it for about 5 years and parked it 2 years ago so it's complete, some rust in floor pans otherwise not to bad......I'll keep you posted.

Gary..when I get settled I'll get the clubs info and sign up! Thanks!

Jim

Thanx for the update Jim, please do keep me posted on what you decide to do.

A 32gal parts cleaner...I'm just not getting a mental picture of how big that is. What would you say you could fit into it? Or are you back in Houston yet where you could shoot a pic of it and something else showing scale?

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi All..sorry for any delay in reply but I haven't been online in several days and this is probably my last look at the computer for a week or so.

I got the parts cleaner emptied by Safety Kleen, the proper way but $100.00 !

I'm taking the 72 240 to Corvallis with me so I've got everything covered at this point.

Thanks for everything...see some of you in Oregon!
