Hi all,

Last night I physically moved our website to a different server. The old server was a cause of a lot of grief for me, so, I decided to go with a totally different machine.

Because of this move, you might see a few odd problems with the pages and/or behaviors. Please let me know what you notice by replying to this message.

Thanks for your patience!

For starters:

1 - The front page text does not wrap around the center blocks properly. Text is 'cut off' and the user cannot see everything.

2 - If a user comes to the site via www.classiczcars.com, they are required to log in a 2nd time because all links on the site are using new.classiczcars.com.

PS: The 'move' went extremely well and took only about 4-5 hours. Old moves have taken me weeks to complete. :nervous:

One problem I have had for the past 2 weeks (and again tonight) is that when I "refresh" the Home page to see if there have been any new replies to threads, or new threads posted,.......SOMETIMES when the Home page reloads, the SHOUT BOX covers the entire screen. In other words, the Home Page is replaced by a GIANT "SHOUT BOX" that covers the entire screen.

Maybe this could be solved by having the front page "auto" refresh every x minutes.....?

Certainly solves the problem of hitting the refresh button...

Not for Me.

I prefer to refresh when/if "I" want to. Refreshing isn't the problem, the problem is the SHOUT Box being the only thing on the screen. IMO

Hi all,

Let me address a few issues.

The shoutbox shouldn't be taking up the whole page. I'm not sure what's happening with that problem but I haven't heard it mentioned before. The shoutbox should actually be refreshing on its own every so often. I programmed it to refresh in it's own little box (instead of refreshing the whole page).

Most of the email issues have been ironed out with the new server. It looks like most of you are receiving email notifications.

The front page text-wrapping problem I saw yesterday has now vanished for me. The front page looks good and all of the text is visible to me now. I'm not sure where that problem came from.

The duplicate login should also be fixed because I changed all links back to www.classiczcars.com instead of new.classiczcars.com . I also disabled the old server so there is no chance someone could be loading that site by accident.

As far as email timing, I really can't control how long the 'postal system' takes to deliver messages. There are so many factors involved with email delivery that I can't even begin to explain what might be the cause. All I can say is that our email is queued and sent immediately. After it's sent out from our server it could get hung just about anywhere on the 'net. Maybe due to the Christmas mailing rush, the email system decided to be a little slow as well! :)

Ah, but, I do see one last bug that sits here. Our "Latest 100" posts seems to be broken. I will try to get that one fixed by the weekend.

That said, I believe the new server upgrade went very smoothly.

Mike, I remember when we first started talking about a separate 240Z site and mailing list. You started it, and you've done a tremedous job since. I haven't told you lately, but you should know that this site is light-years ahead of the original. Great job, buddy! For you newcomers, this sight is so different from the one we started using, you couldn't even recognize it. We were concerned in the beginning (and Carl too) that this might split up the Internet Z Car Club (IZCC), but it didn't and the whole Z community is stronger than ever. Since then other Z models have formed their own sites, but this was the first outside the IZCC/ZHome. I think we even use to have member numbers like the IZCC, but I forget what happened. Didn't your computer crash once or something? :classic:
