Hi all,

First let me say how glad I am to have found this site. I have just bought my first Z, a silver 240, all original and am really happy that so many people share my awe of this car.

My first problem is rust in the front radiator support - the web that encapsulates the radiator and goes between the two front guards. I have two bad patches of rust here - where the overflow comes out & below the radiator. Can this whole piece be replaced or am I better off patching it up?

Also, I am in Sydney Australia, i would love any details of cruises & clubs etc and also any aftermarket specialists etc in Sydney

Cheers,

Luke:D

congrats on finding this place, buddy. i just got my 240 about 2 months ago, and i tell ya', i'd be lost without these guys! thanks to everybody for the help. i've learned a ton, and hopefully, i can be a help to others! WELCOME TO THE CLUB

I'm on the Gold Coast in QLD and I recently purchased a silver 240 - from Sydney as a matter of fact.

Glad to have another AUssie on board (excuse teh pun) and if I could help with you problem I would ;)....

I'm sure someone here will be able to though, as these guys know just about EVERYTHING you would ever wantto know about Z cars...

As far as the your question on the radiator support, there are two places I know of that have the radiator support. They are Victoria British here in the US and Four Ways Engineering in the UK. The radiator support is not going to be inexpensive though, probably 400 dollars or more. It might help to see a pic of yours if possible so that we could form an opinion on what your best course of action might be, repair or replace. A lot depends on exactly where the rusted out area is, and if it may have spread to or from the frame rail. Since there are so few Z's in your country I doubt that finding one in a salvage yard would be likely.

Thanks all!,

I will keep all that in mind. I will also try to get my hands on a digital camera to show the rust. A friend of mine has said he will be able to patch it but that obviously it would be better to replace it if i can - so i will keep my eyes open!

Luke
