December 17, 200420 yr comment_105370 I really can't remeber, but I believe you'll find that the wheels originally had a gold mesh center and are Enkei 92's. December 17, 200420 yr comment_105403 They are the 92 model. I have the same ones in fourteen. I don't think mine were ever gold, although I have seen both. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14356-tirerim-combo/#findComment-105403 Share on other sites
December 17, 200420 yr Author comment_105413 I've seen pics of the 92's and they appear to be flat where the lugs are. These seem to have a small square where the lugs are. Check out the bottom left rim in the pic. Any info on tires? At +12 could I run 225/ 50 r15 or should I stick with 215/50 r15 to clear the strut. Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14356-tirerim-combo/#findComment-105413 Share on other sites
December 18, 200420 yr comment_105449 Well....A quick thumbnail calculation is that on a 240Z you have about 5 inches before you interfer with the strut. So the basic equation is: Offset (Max) = 127-(Tire width/2)For you question that works out to an answer of 14.5mm. But, there are other factors that influence the result. It would be good to hear from someone who had actually mounted the tires on the car before spending the money for the tires.Your worst case for interferrence (with the strut at least) is on the front of the car. December 18, 200420 yr comment_105450 OH! I forgot that the tire bulge on most tires exceeds the listed width! On 50 series tires that isn't as big a factor as it would be on others, but with only 2.5mm to spare... I wouldn't risk it.Just my opinion. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14356-tirerim-combo/#findComment-105450 Share on other sites
December 18, 200420 yr comment_105455 Not to change the subject, but my favorite retro Enkeis are the Enkei 90. Those are what I had on my late lamented Corvette Bright Yellow 70 240Z. December 18, 200420 yr Author comment_105507 So by that formula the calculations for a 215/50 r15 leaves me with 7.5mm which is a little more than 1/4 of an inch... Does anyone have 215/50 r15 and if you do how far does the tire "bubble" out... Thanks for the help Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14356-tirerim-combo/#findComment-105507 Share on other sites
December 26, 200420 yr comment_106235 I was just doing some tire shopping of my own and I found that the 215's will be best for that size width. I have 7.5's and I have 215s on it that say they will fit 7-8" rims. at 7.5, the tire is about straight up and down with the width of the rim. So any larger then 215s for a 7" would be pretty bulbousy for the rim and I wouldnt want to risk it hitting the struts when you can just go for the 215s for safety. Just my 2c Good luck!
