December 20, 200420 yr Author comment_105616 Welcome to you from "a Different Down Under". It's aways great to have early VIN's around. Not too many left and they are very worth keeping alive, despite the cost.JamesJames thanks for the welcome. #29 has lived a pampered life, as a race car and sitting for the last 18 years. In some ways I wish it was not so extensively modified. It probably would not be around as is, solid and rust free if it was not in race skin. Thanks again, JLP Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14367-new-member/?&page=2#findComment-105616 Share on other sites
December 20, 200420 yr comment_105620 well jlp, my 72 is pewter w/ red int (soon to be back to her original white ext). she has been around the block several thousand times, and i am hoping to get her back to a semi-decent state. i'm not going to fully restore her: there is way too much rust for that. instead i am choosing to turn her into a vintage racer (soon as i get another car) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14367-new-member/?&page=2#findComment-105620 Share on other sites
December 20, 200420 yr comment_105669 Hello Jerry!Sorry to jump in on this thread so late, but I made it!!! Welcome to the club and thanks for posting your car (s). Pretty cool, huh everyone? Her Majesty the 29th is a racer!!! Jerry, there are a few fellows here who are well versed in the competition parts subjects and you will find quite a bit of information in the archives.Mr. W?? You make me smile HLS30-H!!!! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14367-new-member/?&page=2#findComment-105669 Share on other sites
December 20, 200420 yr Author comment_105685 Years ago my mother had a winter place in St. Pete just over the Tampa Bay bridge, I know your area well. I might get down there this spring or summer, I'll have to come vist the princess. As I get into the restoration of the 72, I will post progress and ask for opinions on stock or mild performance. Like I said I have the parts from the original prep on #29. Then what to do with #29 It has all the "good stuff" Datsun comp coil overs, comp trany, Mikuni 50's with comp intake etc... It's not doing any harm or good sitting in the garage. Those 50's are worth a pretty penny too. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14367-new-member/?&page=2#findComment-105700 Share on other sites

I have original race parts from when I club raced #29, such as shorter springs, overdrive mid close 5 speed, Mikuni 44's on comp intake, early minilites, aviad 10qt pan, cooler, 180 LSD 4:11, etc. Would you put any of this on the 1972 post restore or go back stock??? I don't plan on ever getting rid of the 1972 so resale is not an issue. December 20, 200420 yr comment_105714 Personally, I'd put all that stuff on the '72 - but with the proviso that the body was kept totally stock, and maybe also in a Factory-stock colour.Mr. W is doing something similar with HLS30-00027 I think. Lots of period-correct ( and tasteful ) accessories and options. With 26 and 27, he can have his cake and eat it....Having said that, do just what you want to do. Its your car. :classic: Cheers,Alan T. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14367-new-member/?&page=2#findComment-105714 Share on other sites
