Getting Old?

Well today I am driving home my new Z (see http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=111658#post111658 ) car I have not had a running one in 8 or 9 years give or take. While looking for this one I was thinking about taking out the sound proofing to save weight and doing a v8 conversion etc. Driving the car home that already had the sound proofing taken out and some other things to make it louder etc plus a wheel barring about to die driving 55 or 60 becouse of the low gears I started thinking differently... I need to add really good sound proofing.... I dont need a V8 this L28 with triple webbers is fine since I am not going to be street racing like when I was 19.... I would rather just drive to car shows and be comfortable and the car just run good.... I need to have good highway gears.... etc etc etc. Then I start thinking to myself man I am getting old and I am only 34:) Has any one had this experence:)??

I was 19 when I had my frist Z and 22 when I got the next one. I bought my third and present Z when I was 46! My first two Zs spent a lot of time sideways and near the redline! The third Z is a comfortable, good running car that has air conditioning and is fast enough for me at this stage of my life (54). I can drive it hard when I want to but I don't get that urge nearly as often as I did in my early 20s. There is also an added bonus: Nowdays, the only time I see the inside of a court building is when I get summonsed to jury duty!

I think as you get older the urge to whup a** on any guy who pulls up next to you and dares to think he's going to beat you off the line or to the next corner diminishes rapidly. The combination of declining testosterone, experience with "assigned risk" insurance rates, realization of mortality, need to stay alive to support your kids, and lack of enough spare change to be able to afford to make your car into a credible threat at the stoplight, all conspire to make you a Walter Mitty driver as you enter your brittle artery stage of life.

ROFL I AGREE , I AM GETTING TO OLD FOR THIS TOO. I THINK I WILL GIVE IT ONE MORE YEAR , I AM 66 NOW . GOING DOWN HILL BUT ENJOYING THE RIDE. When I grow up I will settle down. One thing about going down hill ,the load is lighter. LOL bought a new muffler yesterday for my early Christmas present to me . Notice I am not politically correct and said CHRISTMAS. Any it is a new offering by DINOMAX It's call EARSPLITINLOUDENBOOMER !
