I need to buy bushings to remove the slop in my shifter. MSA told me I need to know if I have an "A" or "B" transmission. Are there any diagrams of the two types on line so I can tell?

Thanks :geek:

70 & 71 had the three piece tranny. I ASSUME thats a type A. 72 and up had a two piece. I ASSUME its B. The three piece had an adjustment on the clutch slave cylinder the 2 piece did not. Slop shifter normally is a 70/71/3 piece issue."While your there". I would replace all the rubber that closes off the tranny from the car. If you can see the shifter to tranny connection the 3 piece looks like a plumbing pipe on top. The two piece is just a small hole.

sahunt66: If your car still has the original transmission, it is the "A" type. I don't know of any diagrams on-line, but the difference is well documented in every service manual (factory, Haynes, Chilton, Clymers, etc) that I have ever seen.

FWIW, Actually the "B" trans DID use the clutch slave cylinder tht required adjustment until the 1973 model year (production from 9/72)
