Posted December 21, 200420 yr comment_105828 Hey guys, i recently found a good deal on a fuel pump at part source, $75.00, because mine wasnt making alot of pressure. So i go in and ask the guy to double check on the computer that this will work on a FUEL INJECTED 2.8L from a 280z. he tells me again "yes yes yes" like i was an idiot, so i take it home and fire it on to the Datsun (took a while) and i start it up. Minus the start it up part, it clearly wasnt pumping out even half of the pressure it needed, when i took it off and tested it out with a 12v and a pressure gauge it got up to 3psi. So of course i swear alot and get pissed off, then i go the part maker's website, and under 240z,260z and 280z is the exact same fuel pump, the one i bought. so i went back to return it and it looks like i will not be getting a refund...AHHHHHHH. has anyone else bought parts from federal mogul? because you shouldnt. December 22, 200420 yr comment_105910 You should be able to get a refund if its not the correct part.Whats the specs of the pump? is it supposed to put out more than 3psi. If it isnt, it was misrepresented to you when you bought it.To get a refund yo gotta make some more noise about it. Sarting with the store manager. Then his boss, then his boss. Dont you guys has some sort of government consumer protection agency you can call up? December 22, 200420 yr comment_105918 It's 3PSI of course it won't work on F.I that would only be suitable to a carb'd Z. You definately need to return it provided you haven't damaged it and get your money back. I wouldn't accept that for sure but then again I never take what a retail monkey says as literal I am always skeptical about it and double check. December 22, 200420 yr comment_105919 If you told the parts guy it was for a FI 280Z and it was for a carbed 240Z then he gave you the wrong part and you need to be refunded your money no questions asked Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14402-dont-count-on-retail/#findComment-105919 Share on other sites
December 22, 200420 yr comment_105949 Yeah,Make sure you got a fuel pump for a f.i. 280Z, not the carbed 240. The parts guy might have gotten the part# for a 240Z, since it's probably the first Z-car he saw in the book. Look at your receipt to see if it was for "fuel-injected 280Z." !
