Torque Spec Question

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I just bought my 71 Z a couple months ago. I'm currently doing all the brake upgrades (4-pot front & rear disc conv.). Anyways, I don't have the FSM or Haynes Manual on me. I haven't found the time to buy it. I searched, but I had no success. I am on the verge on finishing up the project. I just need to know the torque spec on the lock nut (or otherwise known as a castlated nut; like a castle) of the front wheel bearing. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Keith

First, It isn't as simple as just torquing down the nut. Here is what the HAYNES manual specifies

Torque the Hub Nut (castelated) to 22 ft/lb while rotating the hub in the forward direction, THEN back off the nut 60 degrees and fit the split (cotter) pin. If the holes for the split pin do not line up, further loosen the nut JUST ENOUGH to align the holes for the split pin.

If you are going to do this kind of work on your car, you really need to find the time to get some manuals. They will save you lots of time (and grief).
