Thanks for the advice. That's pretty much my plan at a minimum. I'll be avoiding a rebore if I can as this is supposed to be a "quick freshen up".....so don't wanna pour in too many $. But like you said, there's no point if it's going to die in 6 months.

Just curious Justin, How come you are doing all this to an L26 ?

After all the time you will spend rebuilding and the amount of money spent (bearings, rings, gaskets, welsh plugs etc etc)...why not do it all to an L28 ?

I would have done an L28, however I simply couldn't find one up here. Also the matter of $. I had the L26 here and ready to go. Really, what does the L28 offer over the 26 other than the extra 200cc capacity? The whole thing hasn't cost too much so far. I have pretty much all the parts here and ready to go including a new oil pump for under $500. If I have to bore it, so buy oversize pistons etc, then it'll start adding up.

And just a tip from someone who learned the hard way at the end of the rebuild, especially if final assembly wasnt done by you check that there is an oil pickup in the sump, these L engines dont like not having an oil pickup.
