My 71 240 got swiped from a covered parking lot at an apartment complex back in 82. The thief left it on the sidewalk at a college campus with the lights on and the door open. I had to get it from the tow yard. I got lucky, they must have used a key as there was no damage other than the battery had to be replaced soon due to being run all the way down I think. They swiped a jacket but it wasn't a good one. I changed all the locks with new ones and put in one of those automatically armed on exit alarms (don't know how effective they might be) and didn't have any more trouble.

sparrow6190, are you aware that you revived a thread in which the last post was on 01-26-2003? It's a pertinint topic, however. I've had a couple of cars stolen in my life. A 66 Ford Mustang GT and the 1978 280Z that I recently sold. The Mustang was found completely gutted and written off as a total loss while the Z only suffered slight damage to the console and the theft of the stereo which was all covered by my insurance (Hagerty) and repaired good as new.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that.. I guess that the good news is that it's a car that someone wants! What an idiot guy he was.. glad to hear he didn't get far with things. I had some things stolen by someone at a 7-11 a couple of weeks ago and that hasn't really happened to me before, makes you feel kinda wierd and wonder about just people in general. wierd.
