Posted December 31, 200420 yr comment_106762 After I went through most of the EFI (checking areas that could have produced the symptoms of surgeing)... I cleaned connections (TPS AFM thermotime and CSV and water temp) Checked out the AFM and cleaned it up, purchased a new cap and rotor, new plugs and wires and ignition coil. And also adjust the TPS. And to no avail.... One of the things I did not think about and regretfully overlooked was the injectors... what if there were particles perhaps blocking injectors, causing fuel blockage which could cause surges... I went to the store and bought 2 bottles of prestone FI cleaner and put 1 in before getting some nice 93 octane... and WALA, drove the car for about 30 mins with no surgeing at all!Im very happy right now, I cannot begin to explain...Thanks for all of your help guys, and to all of the Z community! December 31, 200420 yr comment_106764 AWESOME!!! Glad to hear it! Good thing you didn't dump all that money into buy carby stuff. There's one rule we keep to as ET's in the CG is K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid. Yep, they teach us that in school... wonderful for building young egos, they call us stupid That's good news! December 31, 200420 yr comment_106765 I have to admit, I missed the fuel injection cleaning as a diagnosis to the problems you've had. I've dealt with the EFI system for some time now and I guess I took it for granted. Now this is not a plug for a product coming up here, just something that works and has worked for me over the years. I always use Lucas upper cylinder lubricant about every fifth fillup in all my cars. Carbed or EFI. Never had a problem. Eight years with the Z and almost two years with the 810. And I use 87 octane! No ping, no surge, etc. I'm glad you've solved the problem. I've always been a fan of the Nissan/Bosch style EFI. It may be primitive by todays standards but it does work!
