RB30 crank ?

Just wondering if anyone has tried using an RB30 crank in the L28 ?

Instead of an 83mm stroke(LD28), you would get an 85mm stroke. The main journal diameters are pretty much spot on, so just as long as the lengths between them are the same it hsould sit right in there. I guess the only problem would be getting the right rod and piston height setup. You would need to change the crankshaft sproketand interference between the crank and the block _might_ be an issue...hmm, anything else I am missing ? has it been done before to anyones knowledge ?

I was also thinking you're going to have to go pretty short on the rods.....but....really, the stroke is only 2mm larger than the LD28. 2mm isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I currently have a L26 in pieces (bare block other than the crank still being in there) and also have access to a RB25 crank. If I get the time this week I'll dummy up the RB crank against the L block. :)

The main thing being though...you could go to a wrecker and get an Rb30 crank for $50....LD28 is another story.

Yeah that would be good if you could chuck the RB25 crank in there, would be interesting. I've pretty much resigned the idea of making a hi-po L series though, just not worth it

If this could possibly work you could get a 3.17l Lseries six from basic parts..l24 rods/lz22e pistons 1mm flycut -wih 10.4 compress ratio.

ok the rod/stroke ratio if a bit average ie 1.56 but a bit of extra time with balancing would help...and with 3.17 litres you wouldnt need to rev it out as much anyway

But seems a way too good to be true..any one tried to fit one?
