January 20, 200520 yr comment_109401 I'd love a pair of externally adjustable illuminas does anyone know where to get them in Australia or wanna take a guess on shipping from the US? I'm guessing $300+ for shipping.Gav, Carl et el,Below is copy of a response I recieved from Bilstein [Aust], for file.$1400 per pair may seem excessive, however, When I had the Koni's done the cost was $500 per corner. So for a Strut complete with non-adjustable Bilstein insert, it is comparable. Now I really need to justify the swap!MOMMike,Unfortunately we don’t have anything “off the shelf†for the 240Z that’s adjustable and due to the style of the front struts it will be expensive as a cut out needs to be made to the base of the struts to gain access to the adjuster dial. This is due to Bilstein Monotube adjustable race dampers have the adjuster at the base of the strut. Cost would be: (all prices are per pair and include GST)Front/Rear struts:-Height & Rate adjustable (Rebound only) - $2800Rate adjustable only - $2500Height adjustable only - $1600Non adjustable $1400Springs:-Range from $165 to $276.As far as settings go, is the car mainly used for tarmac or gravel rallies and do you mind sacrificing road driving comfort for stage times? Most people we find the non adjustable system works well, this is also what we build for Stewart Wilkins Rallying (Has a lot of experience with Z cars, ph (02) 4577-2400, info@swmotorsport.com.au ) Good person to contact.Hope this helpsRegardsTravers WoodBilstein RacingA Division of Sydney Shock AbsorbersPH: + 61 (2) 9557 5930FAX: + 61 (2) 9550 3270www.bilstein.com.au461 Princes HighwaySydenhamNSW 2204Australia--------------------------------------------------------------------------------From: Mike Novak [mailto:unigold@universal.alphalink.com.au] Sent: Saturday, 8 January 2005 12:26 PMTo: motorsport@bilstein.com.auSubject: Information required.Hello,I am making enquiries regarding availability and pricing for a pair of adjustable front shocks suitable for a Datsun 240Z.The zed has been used for HRA events [light rally & TRE] in Victoria and was/is running Koni's at present. It also doubles occaisonally as a daily driver [i can't help myself].I'm finding the Koni's totally unsuitable and it has been suggested that air shocks in particular Bilsteins are most desirable.Any information regarding a Bilstein setup, including springs etc would be most grateful.RegardsMike Novak43 Portan St.Oakleigh 3166 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14506-koni-questions/?&page=4#findComment-109401 Share on other sites
January 20, 200520 yr comment_109402 My old konis are great for circuit racing and they are the take out to adjust type (which is a pain in the ase but I never adjust them anyway). My brother paid around $1000 (for all 4) for his new style konis that had the adjustable dampening at the top and they were really good aswell. So I would think going to the dearer option wouldn't be worth the money for a road/ occasional track car Gav. Your better spending the extra money on some better sway bars and springs.Ash Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14506-koni-questions/?&page=4#findComment-109402 Share on other sites

March 1, 200520 yr comment_114564 Awww come on, don't you like taking apart your strut so you can turn the shaft? Who wants firm anyhow, unless it's a female's as.....anyhow, the hard as brick Tokico 200-way shocks will rip your guts out. March 1, 200520 yr comment_114572 Yeah I can get the Tokico's pretty cheap I'm just wondering how much shipping is to Australia. I would like them adjustable so that on the road she's softer and when i do go on the track i can firm her up .
