Diagrams for a 73 240Z chasis and body panels

I have a 73 240Z and Im trying to see how certain parts get taken out, especially the fenders and things like that.

I bought a haynes manual but it doesnt show any diagrams blow out(exploded) panels with the diagrams and what not that can tell me how to take certain things off.

Can some one point me in the right direction?

Yeah. Right here. Search the forums and you will fing info about haw to do ust about anything to a Z. Is all been done before.

Thers also a book called how to restore your Z car by Wick Humble. I have it, but havent read it. I tend to just jump in a do it. I can usually work out how things come apart without having to refer to diagrams, unless i get really stuck

The fenders are bolted in place at various locations across the top, bottom and front.

There are the obvious bolts along the top lip just under the hood edge (5-6 if I remember right). There are (2) phillips-head screws on the top of the fender underneath the windshield cowling (grill). There is (1) bolt at the rear of the fender just below the cowling screws that can only be accessed by opening the door (open, then look near the front of the door on the body). There are (2) bolts on the bottom of the fender along the bottom edge of the rocker panel, just behind the front wheels. Then, there are (2) more bolts behind the headlight scoop that bolt up through the area behind the front grill (look just to either side of the radiator, on the front side of the core-support). That should be about it.

Buy a can of PB Blaster penetrating oil and be very carefull taking the bolts out. Bet you $1 you break one off.

Do yourself a BIG favour and buy yourself Humbles book. It is invaluable.

If the funds can be streached, then a FSM [factory service manual] is another indispensible reference.

Can i still get a factory service manual from Nissan? and what about the prices? I dont want a ghetto copy, i have had many for several of my hondas and the text sucks! manily because hey are photocopied versions and what not.

The S30 FSM is still available. Having both a 240 & 260, I usually use the S30 manual for both.

Try ebay for an original 240.

I'm with Carl S on this one... I've never found anything as good a Kroil. The downside is you have to order it - and wait for it to come. At least no one around here carries it in stock. www.kanolabs.com They make several variations, for specific uses.. I'd try to aerosol AEROKROIL (most likely later you'll be ordering it in bulk). They also put out a useful newsletter.. sign up for that, lots of good tips there as well.

I usually look in the Parts Manuals first - to see how things come apart. All most all the views are Exploded Views that show every nut and bolt. Mike used to sell the Parts Manuals on CD-ROM, I don't know if he still does or not. If not Courtesy Nissan sell them. www.courtesyparts.com

Mike sells the Z Car Parts Microfiche on CD-ROM. It has a lot of exploded views.

Courtesy Nissan sells the actual Factory Service Manuals on CD-ROM

he he went o the local nissan dealer and the parts gave this deer in the headlights look ha ha. Looks like Ill be hitting up a lot of used book sotres around town before I go ahead and buy the manuals online.
