January 7, 200520 yr comment_107813 Some of the later 240's had a dealer installed A/C here is AUS.The compressor and brackets from a 260 would fit, however it's the inside componants that would create problems.Try ringing around some of the zed shops to see if they have the bit's you need. January 8, 200520 yr comment_107853 I have the air cond out of a 260Z, that will be going in my 240z, hopefully. It just sits next the the blower motor, and feeds cold air into stock 240Z blower, when it is switched to internal. Might have to upgrade the compressor, as it was probably for the CFC bad gas, and i think the new stuff needs something done to the compressor to make it as cold as the old stuff. January 8, 200520 yr Author comment_107860 So apart from all the under bonnet stuff, the only "plumbing in" behind the dash is into the blower motor? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14579-air-con-in-a-240/#findComment-107860 Share on other sites
January 8, 200520 yr comment_107868 Yeah on the one I have. 2 pipes for the gas in, gas out through holes in the firewall. There is a drain for condensation also, which in the 2+2 i got it from just drained down the inside of the firewall onto the carpet, which might explain why the floor was so rusty. Then there's the electics, which i havent worked out yet. No where near that stage of the restoration yet. January 8, 200520 yr comment_107870 The guy that bought my first Z off me installed air con in it. Some mob in Melbourne did it for him and I believe they had a kit for it. Not sure who but if you are really interested I can put you on to him. Also, the guy that bought it off him is on this forum too. January 8, 200520 yr comment_107879 Hehe I was with the guy your talking about today his name is Dale he's a Viczcar guy. The aircon setup was installed by lindsy at Zshop in Melbourne it was a kit he had out the back. However if you are keen you can install any compressor unit if you want to fabricate the mount for it off the engine. Then it's just a case of a - and + and connecting it to the blower. January 8, 200520 yr comment_107881 ...... Then it's just a case of a - and + and connecting it to the blower. But you'll also need to set up a way to bypass the compressor when you turn on the blower when you want heat instead of cold.
