No more Webers!!!???

Well I was looking around on E-Bay for stuff for the good ole Z and came accross this bitchen triple carb, double barrell intake setup for any carbed L-series engine. They claim to be better than the Weber 45 DOCE-Type triple carbs as they are based off the same exact design only produced better and have more features to extract more power. In the description they also say that Weber Carburetor has stopping production???!! I thought the Italy plant just when on strike, I didn't know they stopped production? Has anyone else heard this, or is the old news and like usual I'm the last to know?

The carbs on E-Bay here are made by a Japanese company called OER. Anyone heard of em? I haven't. They are the same 45 DOCE types and use all Weber brand jetting. Anyway, the look real nice and polished- if I had the green (or if I wasn't doing a ZX turbo engine swap) I would think about buyen em. Just my 2 cents.

BTW: This $2G triple carb setup with linkage and intake manifold has a Buy It Now for just over $2,000, OUCH. These are genuine Webers, people!

I know nothing of the specifics regarding Weber Carbs making or not making these carbs, but..............

Don't believe everything stated by sellers on eBay, They have their own agenda (selling what they offer) Nowhere in the ad does it say that Weber has stopped production permanently, so even if they did in fact stop production it might be due to the strike you mentioned and if so it's likely they will be back in production when the strike is over.

This is the sort of situation where the best information will come from Weber. They, or a distributor must have a website that can be contacted for reliable information.

One point of clarification, they (the carbs in that auction) are NOT "genuine Webers". They are OER's version of the Weber carb, asnd they happen to use Weber jetting. No claim is made that any other "Weber" parts can be used in these carbs.

I didn't know about OER and I was considering buying these, but before I drop over 2K on it I was just running them by you.

Oh, and Bambi- I meant to say "These AREN'T" but instead I said they "are". My made. I was making a contrast to why pay for some knock-off Jap brand Weber copycats when the genuine thing cost just a little more? Sorry for the confusion.

BTW: Does anyone know the official Weber site?

personally i would not spend 2k on a knock off set. Perssonally i wouldnt spend 2k on a genuine new set, theres nothing wrong with second hand carbs because rebeuild kist cost next to nothing and they are a sturdy carb (glad mine were on eth car when i bough t it).

As far as the offical weber site im not sure but i use these two and they usualy have all the info i need.

David,

You said it man. I really like the WOPS' design of the Webers. The JAPS are only good at copying. Just ask that KRAUT Goertz.
