is it my weber?

ZOVER

My 240z has dual weber carbs. I can not start it without starting fluid, but it starts easiy and then will restart without a problem with no starting fluid. does this sound like a problem with the carbs or something else?

The choke does move when Move the lever, it is stiff, but I think it is OK. Could it possibly not be going to the full choke position? maybe. How would I check this?

As far as how long I crank it. Sometimes I had to crank it until the battery died with no success. I have learned now that starter fluid does the trick so I start it that way.

what do you think

You need to be sure that the lever moves to full choke. The Weber on my truck starts whenever I need it to. Starting fluid has a way of rattling the bottom end of a cold engine. If you must use that technique, use a small spary bottle with gasoline in it.
