I need to find out if anyone knows ofa good and not really costly place to have my struts done.Around $350.00- $400.00 would be ok. If you could let me know it would be great. Thanx. January 12, 200520 yr comment_108362 Considering the labor involved, that price range isn't going to get you very good strut cartridges, IMO. You may want to check prices on whatever struts you want before setting your price range. You could probably get Monroe brand cheapy struts installed in that price range, but they aren't very good.JMO Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14626-74-260-needs-new-struts/#findComment-108362 Share on other sites
January 12, 200520 yr Author comment_108366 Thanx for the reply and the info. Thought it would be easier to purchase the struts and then find some hole in the wall shop to do the labor. Thanx. January 12, 200520 yr comment_108371 Thanx for the reply and the info. Thought it would be easier to purchase the struts and then find some hole in the wall shop to do the labor. Thanx. You might be able to do that. It's worth inquiring.Only problem I see is that most reputable shops (in my area) either won't use parts you bring them, or they won't warranty the work installing them. Reason? Because shops make money when they purchase parts to install on a customer's car.If you have time, tools and a friend to help you learn, this is a job you could do yourself. This way your budget goes a lot further. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14626-74-260-needs-new-struts/#findComment-108371 Share on other sites
January 12, 200520 yr Author comment_108383 Just one more question- for that price will it cover all 4 or just the rear? My Z was born Sept. '74. January 12, 200520 yr comment_108386 Here's a couple of prices for you. You might be able to find the parts cheaper somewhere else, but maybe not.Keep in mind that you'd likely end up spending more due to things breaking or discovering other things that need replacement as th job unfolds.http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PSDC02Bhttp://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PSDC02AFWIW, I find it easier to drop the entire suspension to do this kind of work, some others prefer not to. January 13, 200520 yr comment_108487 Stacey- I came North from San Diego about 10 years ago. You may want to contact the Z club of San Diego for local shops, or maybe another enthusiast to install your struts. The web site used to be zcsd.org, but is currently expired. I'm sure a phone nuber can be located locally.Devin Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14626-74-260-needs-new-struts/#findComment-108487 Share on other sites
