September 18, 200816 yr comment_260809 The only thing I could think of is to omit the pins and use a screw in its place. That way you can re-use the same rivets.New cars are using the same kind of rivets. i reuse my rivets all the time even with the pins. i just leave the pins out ~1/8" so i can pull them out with needle nosed pliers $0.02 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14649-interior-rivet-alternatives/?&page=5#findComment-260809 Share on other sites
September 18, 200816 yr comment_260811 I replaced the pins with plastic brads that I got from Ace hardware when I worked there. They are black plastic and are the same diameter as the original pins but they have a small head on them that doesn't allow them to go through the rivet which makes them easy to remove. I bought all they had which was 22 at the time and they never got anymore in. The problem is that they changed suppliers and they no longer carry them and I've not seen those at other hardware stores. To answer ToXIc's question, the OEM part number is 90909-E4100. Whether or not they're available is another story......
