Just noticed an leak from the head at the block while I ran up the Z in the dark just now. It's on the passenger side, right under a small bump on the head and block, where they join...wondering if this is serious. The mechanic that I took it to today said it's a sign of my head gasket going out, so I cleaned the area in order to make a leak obvious. There's a slight weep after a minute or two of running, no large drops, just a faint trickle. No oil in the water or water in the oil, though.

You said oil leak by a small bump on the cylinder head to block? if by chance you mean the one just above the oil filter or the one just above the fuel pump or pump block off area.then yes you do need to replace your head gasket.it will only get worse with time. this is the only true fix for a head gasket leaking oil at these places.both of these places are oil to cylinder head oil pressure gallies. the center one goes to the cam towers and the oil

spray bar [if equ].the other goes from there back down to the front cover to the tensioner then back into the crank case.good luck.
