Hi Zhead240..

I understand that the pull switch in the dash for flashers are 73 models...

I know... picky nick picker... but just throws up a little flag in my head concerning it being removed from a 72 as advertised....I looked closely at previous listing, but got nervous over listing as 72.

Does look like a good dash.....

I'm still looking for a great early dash myself.

If you look really close and squint you'll notice that the VIN plate is still attached to the dash and appears to be HLS30-163XXX. Definitely a '73.

AFAIK there are few differences between the 71 and 73. The most prominent of which would be the spacing in the Heater Control Panel area (due to it's lighted nature).

However, from what he is asking for "a decent used dash for a '71 240z, couple cracks are fine ", which to me reads as though he's limited in funds.

What about someone's part's car dash, that may in fact need a dash cap?

Lastly, what about Dashboard Restorations? Weren't they "stock-piling" dash frames?

Just a couple points to check.

The dashes I've pulled that had small cracks, would always somehow crack worse while out of car, or during removal process.....

The 73 dash wiring connectors under glove box are much different if i remember correctly.

Swapping out all the gauges/assemblies, along with dash wiring connectors would work...I'm 95% sure...

Will the wiring in a 1973 dash be compatible with the engine bay wiring harness of a 1971 240Z that it is going to have to connect to?

As DSpillman pointed out, not at all. The connectors and part of the wiring changed a lot from late 72 to 73, and from 71 to 72.

Other than having to swap out the wiring and the tach, everything else should fit right in.

I have a 71 240Z dash that I'll let go. Complete it will be $375 plus shipping. Stripped down it will be $275 plus shipping. There are no cracks and only a couple of the smallest of indentations around the heater control area from storage. So small that in the dark confines of a Z it would only be desernable by feel not sight. I'm on the East Coast in SE Virginia. If you are interested just let me know.

I can provide photos via E-mail.

That was the point I was trying to make. According to his post he doesn't even have a 71 dash to pull wiring out of. :)
