Posted February 2, 200520 yr comment_110985 i've located someone who wants to sell parts from a 70/240z vin#403, manufacture tag 403 nov 69.he has six boxes of stuff, mostly small parts for $200.($160 U S ) i wrote down the list over the phone hastily.(might of missed some parts) what i want to know is, are these parts more unique because they're from a low vin # or not. maybe 26th-Z can answer this question, also is there such thing as hatch glass without defrost wires?p.s. the car was a rust bucket, hence he keep parts. February 2, 200520 yr comment_110987 Some of the parts in early Z cars were unique. 26th-Z can be much more specific than I. Also, yes there is such a thing as a hatch glass without defroster wires.(it's one of those unique items) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14844-vin403/#findComment-110987 Share on other sites

February 2, 200520 yr comment_111011 Yes, I think it's worth $200.I know a fellow in Tampa looking for clear hatch glass. Of course, the 'D' hubcaps are valuable - IMO $75+ each. Let's see...I would like the hood vents. The 40 amp alternator is early. I have yet to see much difference in the starter motor. Peculiar interior parts would include the seat belts, console / ashtray, seat belt hooks, seat cushion guards, "red dot" center mirror, and perhaps the floor mats. February 2, 200520 yr comment_111013 I screwed up that post. Yea, it's worth $200 and if you would like to pass the whole lot over to me, let's talk. Here's what is peculiar to the early, early cars: rad ****4 hub caps( D or Z caps- don't know) chrome window frame(both) rear windowframe(hatch) ****hatch glass (no defrost) ****hood vents (the ones over the battery) ****starter motor-alternator ( 40 amp alternator ) pair arm rest pair seat sliders door mirror running lites(3 of 4 in great shape) ****center console ( varies - choke plate, ash tray ) rear brake drums pass door glass 2 window mechanisms(wind ups) duct work ****seat belt stuff(rough shape) ( early buckle ) pair wiper arms & blades ****20-160 speedometer ( pretty much all the guages per series one ) ****tach(7-8 rpm) ****feul amp & guage ****temp& oil guage clutch and brake master cylinder ****trunk lock & key universal joint ****orange breather ( without the flapper ) ****floor mats ( perhaps rubber mats ) All of this is fairly peculiar to early series one cars. I don't need the console and depending on how nice it is, they can bring $300 alone. I don't need the 'D' caps either. I am interested in all the rest. Here are a couple of shots of early inspection lids. Notice how the hood tab / seat for the hood cushion is riveted on. They have a slot on the back for the plastic clip. Also - early hood bumper. February 2, 200520 yr comment_111014 Here is the "vented rotor" Dave is talking about. I call it a "vented hat" rotor. The hub is slotted. Remember, the backing plate for this brake is ducted? February 2, 200520 yr comment_111032 Here is the "vented rotor" Dave is talking about. I call it a "vented hat" rotor. The hub is slotted. Remember, the backing plate for this brake is ducted? Thanks for the pic, Chris. Yeah, I'd call it a vented hat rotor also. Otherwise, much confusion could result since it's not a true "vented rotor" in the common sense of the term.IMO, it makes sense that Nissan went away from that design. It doesn't appear to be very beefy. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14844-vin403/#findComment-111032 Share on other sites
February 2, 200520 yr comment_111035 How about the engine bay fresh air vents. The earliest ones have a metal flange holding them in, while after that, they went to a metal tab. http://zhome.com/Classic/Restore/FreshAirIntake.htmI still have one of the early ones from #215, but I'm still looking for the drivers side...And if the car has the "ducted" front disc backing plates, I need the passenger side one of those too... February 2, 200520 yr comment_111037 And how about a "rounded" choke handle? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/14844-vin403/#findComment-111037 Share on other sites
