I would recommend MIG as well. TIG can get expensive but it does produce better quality welds on thinner material. Let your wallet be your guide. If you have an opportunity to take welding classes at the local community college they are well worth it. Hands on training!!

I have an old Century Mig that I bought from Sears in about 1987 (working on an IMSA RS Pymouth TC-3 front wheel drive w/ VW power), welding unibody seams. Also own a Lincoln AC-DC Buzz Box and an Oxy-Acetylene torch. I use all three regularly.
