Coil Shock

Recommended Posts

The MSD 6AL ignition is installed, the car runs like a champ and all necessary grounds are connected. When the car is running and you touch the coil you get shocked. The wire from the distributor to the coil is connected tight. The coil is a Crane Fireball PS-40. Could the coil be going bad? Don't know if it's always been this way because I've never touched the coil when the car was running. Any ideas?

Since you live where there is plenty of salty air and if the coil is not brand new you might have a slight coating of salt and moisture on the coil. Give the coil a good bath with hot soapy water and dry it good, personally I avoid touching things like that while they are running, hate shocks!
