Hi I purchased a 260z that had been modified with an L28, Webbers etc but one of the things the previos owner did for some reason was take out the vapor recovery stuff. Also he left the open holes in the tank. His solution was to only put maybe half a tank of gas in so it would not splash out. I dont think this can be safe plus it just seems like bad idea in general. So my question is should I track down all of the vapor recovery parts and try and put it all back together or should just come up with something that will let it vent to a safe place or just do the fuel cell? Thanks very much in advance for any help you can give me.

This is a good example of the dreaded P.O. doing stuff back asswards! Fred Sanford engineering. :stupid: Wonder what else he might have screwed up like this?

talk to beandip. He can help you with info on how to make it a "closed" system again, but without the vapor tank.

I removed the evap tank in my '73 and pluged the vent howes on the tank and vented the tank to the filler neck. not a big deal . If you want a metal evap tank I have one in good shape.
