Hey guys, just happened to stumble on this site while searching for parts and information on a 1982 280Z 2+2. I just found out that my uncle has one that is just sitting around collecting rust, dust, and anything else nature can throw at it. I would love to purchase it off of him and restore it, but it would be my first major project ever, and I don't exactly have a whole lot of funds. However, I will not give up on that car, it's my new dream. Any suggestions, questions about the car?

Well if you are looking to learn about Z's this is the place to do it. The is such a wealth of technical knowledge on Z's here it is ridiculous. A few months ago I was just like you starting with nothing and very little knowledge. Just start reading. Everybody here is extremely helpful and commonly aid you in any problems you will come across

Now about the Z. You need to look at it and decide what exactly you want to get out of it. A stock restored car? or maybe a rod? The car is not as old as many Z's so it should not take as much money as maybe a 1970's 240Z. Although money makes whole project go round. I say purchase the car and take your time working slowly so you have enough money to do the project and do it right. Now by no means am I an expert on any of this, months ago I was just like you. I am sure more people will chime in on this to give you a hand.

Just take one drive in the car and I am pretty sure you will have made your decision....

Be aware that this site is dedicated to the earlier S30 1970-1978 240/260/280Z. The S130 280ZX does share the same basic engine but other than that no parts are interchangeable with the earlier models.

And yes this site is really oriented with the S30 Zeds... you might want to look for one of those possibly? hehe just a sales pitch , if you like the ZX more power to ya, after all it is still a Z car... I have a 77 280Z and I must say, I love the S30 Zeds alot better than newer ones... just a preference however

I just started reading around too... and i can agree with that statement, something about my 75 280z that is just unique and i love.

Some people call my car ugly.. 2 or 3 call it the penis mobile... but it is a car that can only be loved by its owner and "father or mother"... And i love it.

Those who are calling it a penis mobile obviously have no taste in anything of excellence and are clearly they are the penises

Only those misfortunate enoungh to have never found out first hand would call it a penis mobile-don't hold iit against them though, some people are born mentally challenged!

Just a thought to share regarding those who call it a penismobile:

Look them straight in the eye and say "Did you know that the only people to equate a car with a penis are those who are seriously undersized themselves?"

Or:

"You know dude, you really ought to get professional help regarding this penis fixation you seem to have."

Dr. Phill suggests that Penis envy and Z envy among owners of four cylinder cars with Blatt type exhausts and more money in road bling and "aerodynamic blasphome" than is real performance parts prompts those affected to project the "Dickness" that defines them on those around them, especially Z owners! The only effective treatment is a healthy dose of shrinking taillights from Z owning drivers. Almost miraculously, that is the only view a Neon or Honda owner gets, unless he happens to encounter a parked Z-which though rare, does occasionally happen-and, unfortunately, can be totally responsible for a complete relapse.

The treatment also has been shown to actually exaccerbate the problem in those test subjects who are already in a state of denial before having to face the reality that there is no substitute for cubic inches.
