My Z car has been doing this for a while now, but i have been busy with other more necessary problems to really worry about it. For some reason, If I am approching a stop, and the car is warm, the moment i put in the clutch, the engine will go up to 3k RPM and will hold there until the car comes to a stop. If I am driving and the engine is cold, it won't do this. This really bugs me and i think is one of the factors of my 15Mpg fuel economy. I would be greatful for any help in fixing this problem or for ways to impove my gas mileage. This is a 77' 280Z.

Do you know if your car was originally a California car? If so, you might be having a problem with the altitude switch. I had that problem a while back on my 78 and I solved it by adjusting the altitude switch as per the FSM.

I don't think it was, because it doesn't have the cat or the floor temp light. I really can't be sure though. Is there a sure fire way to tell if it was a cal car?

Take a look at this scan. I shows the locations of the components of the EFI system. The California items are noted. This is however for a 78 and I am not sure how much or if it would differ from yours.

Yah, i don't think its a Cal model. Im missing those things. but my luck got a little better today. Some chick backed into my car crushing my little wheel flair right behind the driverside door in the parking lot today and decided it was fun to do a hit and run. I was in my car and she gave me a dirty look, and pulled away without stopping too bad for her i got her plate #. I got a report and am turning her in for hit and run. Sometimes things just have to suck
