although described as 70 to72, they look like early 260 bumpers to me because of the rubber guards. ( not chrome) correct me if i'm wrong.don't know where u are so shipping has to be taken into consideration.

These are early 260z.....

Why, OH WHY, would you ever want to put 260Z bumpers on a 240???? And, as the question has already been asked, could you even do it without a lot of work, to what end?

Take a look around for early 240 ones or consider the fiberglass ones MSA has for sale. They run about $140 each, you can paint them and they look sleek. Whatever bumper you put on there isn’t going to do much good even if you get into a minor scrape. It’s for show primarily so IMHO, go with what looks good to you. I’ve seen lots of pictures of Z’s without bumpers and they look good also.

By the way, my 73 bumpers have no shocks. They are directly bolted on.

:alien: You can mount any bumper to the Z. From the 240Z bumper to the 260 bumper (early). All you have to do is make your own brackets from 1/8" bar stock that you can get from places like Home Depot. The best way to do it, is place the bumpers in the location you want and bend the bar to fit. You will have to drill some holes for mounting. But other then that it is mostly a bolt on. You can do this to the 280Z also. For rear bumper mounts on the 280Z, all you need is the mounts off of a 240Z. Place the bumper in the location you want and weld on. Only holes you will have to drill are on the sides. I have removed the shocks from both the 260Z and the 280Z. The fronts are easy. The backs, you have to drop the gas tank a small way to reach up inside it to remove some bolts. Then you can turn them and remove them. If you can get the brackets for the 240Z from an old Z or order from a parts house. They will work just as good. Take care, Rich. :beard:

I've done this. It was a few years ago. I'm not near the car now, so I can't go outside and look, but it seems like I remember that something was in a different location and I solved it by reversing the brackets. Anyway it wound up fitting on the 260 (early) using 240 bumper and brackets.

no matter, why would you put 260 bumpers on it? they just won't look right and are kinda like slappin your z in the face and dousing her with water!

You should seriously consider just waiting...enough time, you'll fine a front and rear set of 70-72 bumpers in good condition for $100-200 each...maybe even less...I have seen some with minor 'dents' or that need chroming, for $100 set...but alas, not since I've wanted to get a front....
