So I was told when I bought my car that neither the hand throttle nor the choke were connected, so until now I never even tried. I tried it just cos I got curious today, and to my surprise the hand throttle does work....

My car seems to be a 240 series 2, except for the centre console bit which I guess has been replaced at some stage...

The thing is, I would have thought when they removed teh hand throttle control, they would have removed all the mechanics behind it too, to save money and time.

My question is, does anybody know if the mechanical components to do with the hand throttle were still left in the series 2 cars, or if not would it be reasonably simple to install the parts yourself?

This is another segment of my ongoing saga to determine for SURE what series my car is...

u can tell what series your car is by your VIN...HLS30-00501 up through HLS30-21001 was the Series I. Also, if you have the rear hatch vents, then you have a Series I. And another, look at your speedometer, if it starts at 20mph its a Series I. http://zhome.com/History/New71Late.htm that will tell you the differences between Series I and II. Hope it helps!

Yeah yeah I've been through the changes a thousand times LOL - I'm pretty sure that my car is series 2, but I'd still like to know if (and if so then why) the mechanical components for the hand throttle were still left in.

Because my car is RHD, those VIn numbers are no use to me. Perhaps I should write to Nissan so all teh aussies can know whereabouts there cars stand in between the generation changes?

Woah, I just looked at that site there and in fact it is not VIN HLS30-00501 up through HLS30-21001 - it's VIN *starting from* HS30-00501 and HLS30-21001.

Thus, only 500 cars were made in RHD with the hatch vents, and "only" 21000 LHD cars...

Interesting.

I'd still like to know if anybody wit ha series 2 knows if they have the potential to install the hand throttle . . . .
