i just purchased a hood from someone on ebay and i'm unsure of a good way to ship it. what i was thinking would be to send it via greyhound.... any better options? how should it be wrapped? i was thinking wrapped in bubble wrap, but would that be secure enough? thx guys... and gals....

EDIT: oh ya, PA to CA is the shipping route

I have had several hoods shipped via Greyhound-even one from California where buses are know to contain chemicals that...

Unless it is packed and supported well, don't expect it to come though dent free, the bus loaders toss baggage and other items in how ever tight they can-not the it will be destroyed, but expect it to have some dents it didnt have.

I had the last one crated with 2x4s and melamine-the box was damaged, but the hood came out ready to install. $50 for crating was cheeper than two hours of hammer and dolly work!

Spend a few extra dollars and have a wooden crate built for it. Some 1x6"s a couple of sheets of 1/4" plywood and some foam padding. I've dealt with a lot of shipping company's in the past. The lighter the package the more it gets tossed around. And a flimsy carboard box will provide no protection to your hood. Imagine it being put at the bottom of the pile and someones 50 lb bag being tossed right in the middle of your hood.
