Are 2+2's Ugly Or Not??

Excellent chat boys....

A 2+2 doesn't (not does'nt ZXTACY...double Drrrr...DOH DOH DOH!!!!!) look all that bad if you don't even have a Z like me....however I won't be rushing out to get a 2+2 just yet.

As a Kiwi, and I moral person, I find ZXTACY's remarks a little dated. The Aussies are a fine bunch of sun loving, fun loving laid back people who have there fair share of indifferent history like us all. You'll see that most Aussies are very happy and proud to say that they are just that...who will forget the Sydney Olympic games in a hurry...great world event. Can't knock em mate....you're on a loser there.

Most Aussies and Kiwi's are well travelled. It appears that some of our members should take note of this and get out more often...gezzzz...where did the phrase "RED NECK" come from?

Anyway...we all share the common love of Z's.

Remember.... It's pronounced....

I absolutely love my 2+2 !! the extra body length makes the car handle better on the curves and she hugs the road. Even had a police officer pull me over just to ask what kind of car she was. Yeah I like my 73 240 but just knowing that my 78 280 is a rare breed now makes her even more special.

I think the 280ZX 2+2 looks better... no, make that... looks not as bad as the 2 seater model, and I can't remember how the shape differs on the Z31 300ZX. With the Z32 300ZX you can hardly tell.

To each his and or her own. When I saw my car sitting in a boneyard I had to rescue her. When I go to shows there are lots of 240's and 280's but very few 2+2. I am unique and so is my Z.

Don't get me wrong , I still love the coupes, any Z for that matter but all the blood and tears I have shed over my 2+2 makes her special to me. Datsun's ads for the car called it " the ulitmate family car." It had its place and time then and now.

  • 5 weeks later...

I've have a 76 260Z 2+2 and just bought a 73 240Z 2 weeks ago. The 2+2 definetly isn't ugly but it tends to look like a 280ZX in the shape of a 240. If you look at it side on I believe it looks very classy with it's extended look. But look back at it from the front on a 45 degree angle and Yukkkkkkk.:finger: Just remember though it's still a Zed mine rides well, handles better then most family cars and still does 200kph:D Just love it...............

I'd always wanted a 240, a 2+2 was never a consideration. However, my first z was a 260 2+2 because I found one in such good condition and at a price I couldn't knock back. After a while the shape grew on me - it is a Z after all. I eventually bought a 240 and yes I think it does look sportier but I still like my 2+2, so much so that after crashing it last week I've decided to do a full restoration.

Let's not get a war started here like what happened at Zcar.com.

There will ALWAYS be people who don't like what you do to YOUR car, and others that think it's the next item they want to copy for theirs.

While some will laud your choice of paint, others will wonder why not just have a bunch of birds poop on it to make it look better from the paint job you did.

2+2, different, yes, but nonetheless an original Z car as manufactured by Datsun/Nissan. Can't say the same about V8; V6 and other engine swaps. How about shaved bumpers, or handles, lights or even AIR DAMS. GEEEEEEEEZ!!!!

BUT......to each Z owner, it is their baby and they are satisfied with what they've done. I would even go so far to say that in many cases they've done a conscientious and careful change over. Are there atrocities out there, you bet, but then again, not in ALL cases.

In some cases, they've rescued these cars from sure death at the crusher or a slow death in the boneyard. Other cases, have been where they are bought and changed, maybe from what the original owner might have felt should happen to it, but nonetheless, they are STILL ON THE ROAD!

If you feel strongly enough about these "atrocities" then get your money together, make an offer, buy the car, and "correct" to your hearts desire. Note that I am not defining "correct", because one man's feast is another man's poison. Which is right? It's up to each one of us.

Let's just keep them rolling, that they are different is part of the spice of being in a fraternity. We're not all stamped out of the same mold, nor are we expected to "restore" to the same condition as everyone else.

Even talking Concours judging, your car is judged to the standards for your year, and 920 Gold paint as well as any of the 900 series paints are unacceptable in any other year than 70 and 71.

Just my 2¢
