March 3, 200520 yr comment_114846 Would it be considered churlish or denigrating if I suggested that Saran Wrap might be a good low-budget alternative to clear lenses?I'm trying to be diplomatic here....... :tapemouth Love it! Just think, then we can make our own headlight covers!!! March 3, 200520 yr comment_114876 I guess my 240Z with clear front indicators was "ricey" then? I think they look good on the Z31, but I dont think they would look so hot on an S30... I dont think the "futuristic" thing works on a classic car. Anyway, Alan someone has already tried your idea! Unfortunately, it didn't make the entire car go invisible... :paranoid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/15153-add-your-interest-for-clear-lenses/?&page=3#findComment-114876 Share on other sites
January 9, 200619 yr comment_151513 Here in the Netherlands we have this "funny" legislation. Parking lights or driving lights whatever they are called, need to be with clear lenses or integrated in the headlights. I have a 74.5 260Z with these combination parking/turn signal light having amber lenses. So to get the car a proper registration, I need clear lenses for these lights, or convert the system to be integrated in the headlights. The Dept. of Transportation (DOT) specifies that the front parking lights and turn signals can be either white or amber lighting. The amber lighting can be provided by either amber lenses, or clear lenses with an amber bulb. Therefore the parking and turn signal function can be provided by a single dual filament bulb, unlike pretty much the entire rest of the world. The rear turn signals can be either red or amber. In the case of amber, again amber bulbs/clear lenses are approved, but for red only red lenses can be used, not red bulbs. Individual states can have stricter rules, but not less restrictive.
