Fuel Rail Suppliers

I think I would like to replace my fuel rail instead of spending much time cleaning & polishing because I think the sanding might weaken the tubing.

Does anybody know of any manufacturers? Something with fins and shiny/chrome? I saw the JSK one, and it would work, but it looks like a huge thing.

thx

I bought the rail material he is using, and I am going to make a set with a different profile for my GTO look-a-like, very similar to what was actually used. I just have to find the ring bit to profile it. Machining fins into it could be done too the actual stock is D shaped and 3/4" x 1&1/2" I believe-I can check later today, and get a picture if it will help.

Well guys,

I've spent a few hours getting my fuel rail off my L28, so now I need to decide if I want to wait on a new one or to just clean and/or plate the old one. I took a look at the old one, and I think I'd rather have a new onethat's shiny & simpler than the old speghetti-tube. I had to take some notes & pictures so I can remember how things were.

Will- you got your setup going yet? I've got some cash.

thx

Sorry Tomohawk, somehow I missed your previous reply until now. I will take some pictures, and find the link for what I ordered from where in the next day or two. Did I ever send you a CD of my research photos? If not, PM me your address, and I will.

The fuel rail stock was fairly inexpensive. I bought enough to make 4 rails(one for each of my projects) I have made up a steel barstock template for marking, and my rails will be machined to take o-ringed Ford injectors.

TomoHawk, think about what you want, and PM me with it, When I set up to make my rails, I'll do one for you at the same time-if I can do what you want.

Higuys,

I sent Pallnet some money for a finned barb-rail today. And some socket-head injector bolts (one already stuck)

Questions-

I had an idea about mounting the new rail down the length of the intake, close to the injectors, keeping it low to the intake, with bent fuel hoses. (pic below) Can it be done?

Also, I noticed there's a (plastic) insert in the head where the injector tip goes in. It's a snug fit. Do you have to replace those? I don't see them in any catalog. Is that the "o-ring?" There's a tiny little hole in it, so I expected a bigger hole.

Now, I can either send out the injectors to get serviced, or just clean up the intake with some solvent & start reassembling things.

thx

Will- You going to post a pic of your rail ?

TomoHawk,

The plastic insert is a filter, they are not ment to come out, but can be removed if you are careful. That filter is the reason I back flush my injectors-it keeps crap form deteriorating lines and surfaces out of the pintle, meaning the only thing that can block the injector is a deposit from the fuel, and Carbureator cleaner is designed to disolve what-deposits from fuel! Back flushing empies the filter.

I will post a picture when I can get to the rail, headlight covers, led conversions, and polishing my wheels comes first-after wife, son, bills, and FOOD!

It doesn't look like a filter to me. Just a hard plastic thing with a little hole in it. The hole is smaller than the pintle even. I'll just clean it out with a little carb cleaner when I put the injectors back in.

I know there's a little fuel filter in the Injector at the top. I'm just a little confused, because there's supposed to be a rubber o-ring on the pintle end of the injector, and none of my injectors haved them. I've been looking at my FSM files, but it's slow reading.

thx any way.
