Looking for a brake booster

Believe or not my Brake booster is bad too !!!! Is there anywhere I can get a rebuild kit and what the difference from the rebuilt VB Boosters and the Motorsport brake boosters besides price and one being rebuilt !!! Does VB actually use the cores we send in !!! I would like keep the car original ????

I SEE THE SUBJECT OF BRAKE BOOSTERS HAVE BEEN COVERED WELL IN THE PAST !!!! JUST WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A REBUILD KIT SO I CAN USE MY OLD ONE !!!!!!!!

When I had to deal with my 1970 brake booster, because the diaphram was shot, I looked into a kit, which was available back in 2000 from Courtesy Nissan, but desided that it would be safer and much easier to just buy a new one...which I believe are still available. Carl is right about the tools needed for disassembly and reassembly and since this is part of a system that STOPS the car, it's surely worth the extra $$$ for piece of mind IMO!

so me driving with the air hissin out from under the dash is not a good thing then ....hmmmmm

Well, its not unsafe in itself, as long as your leg is strong enough to exicute a panic stop! But it is a vaccum leak and that doen't help performance.

I have a 1973 parts car, I will check out the booster this weekend. :ermm: I won't be able to test it unless someone knows how to test one off the car but if it looks ok I'll remove it and you can have it. You pay shipping. If your interested let me know. JLP

Hey, my booster is bad too, and a new one from VB is like 300$, so I'e been driving around with a bullet casing plugging up my vaccum line. It works just fine, and after a while, your leg totally gets used to jamming the pedal down to stop. I try to use my heel, and it's easier.

Well...misery loves company!

My booster (or the hoses, or the check valve, etc etc) is bad and I was looking for parts last night. VB sells a rebuild kit (part #64-147) for $159, or you can get a remanufactured one for $130 (minus the $25 core charge). No typo. A $30 upcharge for the do-it-yourselfer! I inspected mine last night and could not find any markings which would uniquely identify it vs. a remanufactured one of the same year, so I guess I would forgo the "educational opportunity" of rebuilding and just get the remanufactured one.

My hoses and fittings look pretty crapped out, so I think I will replace them first. Good luck with yours.
