Needed, firewall grommet

Recommended Posts

Hey guy's, I can't believe this but a simple rubber grommet is holding up my restoration. I did have a few sources but they have all fallen through. I need the rubber firewall grommet that goes around the engine bay wireing harness. It goes in the firewall and has a boot on the engine bay side. I posted in the classifieds a picture of what I need. Can anyone help? It is for a 73 which is larger than the earlier models.

Thanks.

Ed,

I'll see if there is one on my '72 harness. If there is, and it is in good shape, I will see what I can do about making a mold over the next few days. Right now I am waiting for materials for a mold for the led conversion of the combinations lights-I ordered plenty, so I can use some of it for the grommet, but I will have to order some material to cast it with. I will post tomorrow if the grommet is on my harness.

Will: You might want to post some measrements of that 72 plug. Ed indicated that the one he needs is for a 73, and he says that it is larger than the one from earlier models.

But if you ever do make grommets for the 1972 240Z, please put me on the list as one who would definitely buy at least one of them.

In '73 the wireing connections changed and the plugs that had to pass through this hole were / are larger and fewer. In other words insted of several litle plugs there are just a couple. I have a '73 and just came accross the grommet in question the day before yesterday. I also need the grommet to seal off the firewall on my Z , is there any way some one could use this one to makie a mold ? Gary

The 72 and 73 grommet are definately different. The 73 is almost 2 1/2" in diameter where the 72 is about 1 1/2". If I knew how to make the mold and pour rubber I'd definately try and make some.
